LDN

LDN

Low Dose Naltrexone or LDN is a prescription recommended by providers for patients experiencing autoimmune disorders. Naltrexone was approved by the FDA in the 1980s as a counter prescription to fight opiate addiction but later was used to combat alcohol addictions.

When given lower doses of LDN, it has been found to treat symptoms of autoimmune disorders. In studies, LDN has been shown to increase endorphin eels that allow the immune system to be activated to work with inflammation. It is administered in a capsule form.

LDN has been used to treat multiple sclerosis, depression, anxiety, behavioral disorders, Crohn’s Disease, Inflammatory Bowel Conditions, Neuromuscular Conditions, Fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, and chronic pain. Studies are ongoing to discover if LDN can treat more autoimmune conditions.

Side effects of LDN have been reported to be vivid dreams from patients after beginning the prescription, some patients experience a gut detox, and some have experienced skin rashes, general fatigue, and nausea. However, these symptoms do resolve quickly.
